What does Global Living really mean?
This post is inspired by my visit the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
Ever since we started this blog, I've struggled with the two sides of the life that I want to lead. I have no problems dining at Michelin starred restaurants and indulging in the extravagances of life, but at the same time, I am concerned & spirited about driving Women's empowerment and reducing poverty within the business global economy.
But this is what Global Living is about
Today, I can log on to www.womenforwomen.org and donate to help women in war-torn economies. Or I can donate to www.globalfundforwomen.org and send supplies to women that are victims of trafficking to give them a sense of dignity. The internet is a powerful tool.
Today. This word is a problem for me. Today. This is still what I find shocking, that in 2017 we should be talking about the idea of "Women's Empowerment" as though it's not a given. It's something we as a global economy decide to give. Yes, this group of women here can benefit from this project but there's always another group that miss out. And this is why to me, it is important to give as much as possible, whenever you can and what you can. Become involved in someone else's story. Have an insight into what your life could have been like. For me I know I am very lucky, but I've had my own hardships.
Yes, to some the extravagances of my life are not required but it's about exploring and promising to contribute back to the global economy - and that's why the visit today to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation brought me back to the true meaning of "Global Living" - living a passionate and fulfilled live, aware of the impact I can make on the global economy, empowering women every step of the way.
